Coyote sightings in Massachusetts are seemingly more common than people believe and one critter put that theory to the test when it was caught scoping out a Boston high school this week.

A coyote was seen strolling around The English High School in Jamaica Plain on Friday, April 28, according to a Tweet from @RawhideCrypts.

The Twitter user captured the coyote "checking out classes" around 6:40 a.m. The curious creature then headed down Williams Street after apparently deciding to not enroll in any courses.

While it is unclear whether school yards are common stomping grounds for coyotes, they can be found throughout Massachusetts with the exception of the Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Mass Wildlife has documented around 25 cases of coyotes attacking people in recent decades, with some more recent encounters in Concord, Sudbury, Wayland, Swampscott and Hingham, Boston25 reports

These cases usually involve a coyote that was sick, rabid or being fed by a person, the outlet continued. More information about the species can be found on Mass Wildlife's website
